General Info
The 8th Annual City of Los Angeles Triathlon will take place on Sunday, September 9th.  For additional Triathlon event details please visit www.latriathlon.com.

In order to secure the cycle and run courses, street closures by the Department of Transportation will begin as early as 3:30am.  The cycle and run portion of the triathlon will be managed in four sectors as shown on the Route and Traffic Crossing Points (R-X) map.  Sectors will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.  Estimated reopening times for the sectors are included on the pdf map.

Crossing Points will be implemented throughout the Triathlon route in order to provide relief to the traffic congestion associated with the several street closures.  The Triathlon is anticipating approximately 2,500 participants.  Crossing Points near the start of the race may experience longer wait periods, as long as 20 minutes, due to the frequency of the cyclists.  As participants travel farther along the course the gaps between them will also increase allowing traffic to cross the route more frequently.  Please keep in mind that vehicles will be allowed to cross the route but only when it is safe to do so.  A new crossing point will be attempted this year at Overland Avenue and Venice Boulevard to help relieve traffic congestion in the Culver City area.  Please note that unsafe crossing points may be shut down at LADOT's discretion.

Hollywood Freeway (US 101) Off-Ramps to Hollywood Boulevard and Harbor Freeway (I-110) Off-Ramps to 6th Street shall be closed by 6:00 AM and will be re-opened at approximately 11:35 AM and 1:00 PM, respectively.  LADOT is not responsible for the freeway Off-Ramp closures or any event details on the route.

It is advised that motorists avoid the areas affected by the event, if at all possible.  Vehicles will not be allowed on the course at any time and will only be allowed to cross the route at Department of Transportation maintained crossing points.

The Department of Transportation will be aggressively enforcing all temporary-parking restrictions for this event to secure the safety of the participants and to facilitate the movement of traffic around road closures.  Typical vehicle recovery costs are in excess of $130, which does not include the $60 citation fee.

Unfortunately, the Department of Transportation does not have sufficient staff or resources to provide individualized travel and parking information.  If you have a question or concern regarding an issue posing a significant hardship please call (323) 224-6556.  Thank you for your cooperation.
